SVQ Qualification Structure

Candidates will need to achieve the 'core' mandatory units, plus the mandatory units from one of the two routes and the specified number of optional units for that route.

CORE MANDATORY UNITS (must be achieved)

• G20 – Make sure your own actions reduce the risks to health and safety
• G18 – Promote additional services or products to clients
• G8 – Develop and maintain effectiveness at work

Beauty Therapy (General)

(mandatory units)

• B4 Provide facial skin care treatment
• B5 Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes
• B6 Carry out waxing services
• N2 Provide manicure services
• N3 Provide pedicure services
• Plus one optional unit (see below)

Beauty Therapy (Make-Up)

(mandatory units)

• B4 Provide facial skin care treatment
• B5 Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes
• B8 Provide make-up services
• B9 Instruct clients in the use and application of skin care products and make-up
• Plus one optional unit (see below)

Optional units

• G4 Fulfil salon reception duties
• B8 Provide make-up services
